Role Overview
The Flight Operations Engineer (FOE) is responsible for providing flight operations engineering and aircraft performance support to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient cargo operations. The role supports OCC, Flight Operations, Dispatch, Load Control, and Engineering teams with real-time and strategic operational engineering inputs.
Core Responsibilities
1. Flight Performance & Operations Engineering
- Prepare and validate aircraft performance calculations including take-off, landing, and enroute performance.
- Conduct weight & balance and payload optimization for cargo operations.
- Ensure compliance with aircraft limitations, AFM, FCOM, and Company Operations Manuals.
- Support Boeing OPT calculations and EFB performance data administration.
2. Flight Planning & Dispatch Support
- Support route and flight planning considering weather, NOTAMs, fuel policies, alternates, and ETOPS (if applicable).
- Optimize fuel burn and payload to enhance operational efficiency.
- Provide real-time operational engineering support to OCC and dispatch teams.
3. Airport, Route & Emergency Planning
- Conduct airport and route assessments for performance and operational feasibility.
- Design and maintain emergency escape routes and diversion strategies.
- Assess operational risks related to terrain, weather, and airport infrastructure.
4. Regulatory & Safety Compliance
- Ensure operations comply with GCAA, ICAO, and applicable EASA regulations.
- Support MEL/CDL impact assessments and operational decision-making.
- Assist with audits, inspections, and safety reporting processes.
5. Data Analysis & Operational Improvement
- Monitor aircraft performance trends including fuel burn and payload efficiency.
- Analyse delays, diversions, and operational disruptions.
- Propose operational improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
6. Technical Coordination
- Liaise with Maintenance and Engineering teams on aircraft technical limitations.
- Assess operational impact of MELs and support return-to-service performance checks.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical, Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Flight Operations Engineering / Performance Engineering or Dispatch environment.
- Experience with Boeing fleet is preferred; Airbus experience will also be considered.
- Cargo airline experience is an advantage.
Key Skills
- Strong knowledge of aircraft performance and weight & balance principles.
- Experience with flight planning and performance tools (Boeing OPT, Lido, Jeppesen, PPS, or similar).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- High attention to detail with strong safety mindset.
- Ability to work effectively in a 24/7, time-critical OCC environment.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
Salary: AED 12,000 to 18,000 per month depending on experience
